The railway’s engineers and their advisors identified work that needed to be undertaken to ensure that it remains sound for the next 30 years, the majority of which is now the 2023 Viaduct Appeal.
Work had been ongoing through 2020 and 2021, but it was agreed three of the pillars needed remedial work completing before the onset of winter in 2022. The Trust was been able to help with a substantial Grant enabling this work to go ahead so that the railway could continue to operate all its trains without restrictions beyond the normal operational parameters.
